Overview

What is NGO Darpan Registration in Haryana?

NGO Darpan is the portal run by NITI Aayog together with the National Informatics Centre, on which registered non-profits enrol themselves and receive a Darpan Unique ID. It is the government's single directory of NGOs, and it is the reference point every ministry, department and funding body checks before it releases money to a non-profit.

That is the entire reason it matters. Most central and state government grant schemes will not accept an application from an NGO without a Darpan ID. Filing Form CSR-1 with the MCA — mandatory before a company can route CSR funds to you — requires it. Applying for or renewing FCRA registration to receive foreign contributions requires it. Without the Unique ID, an otherwise legitimate trust, society or Section 8 company is simply invisible to public funding.

Registering on the portal costs nothing, and we will say that plainly. Our fee is a professional fee for handling the filing: making sure the NGO's name, PAN and registration certificate match exactly, that the governing body list meets the minimum of three members with correct PAN and Aadhaar details, and that the documents are in the format the portal accepts. Applications that go into manual verification with a mismatch sit there for weeks.

Why it matters

What the Darpan Unique ID unlocks in Haryana

Apply for government grants

Most central and state ministry grant schemes will not even accept an application from an NGO that does not hold a Darpan Unique ID. It is the first field on the form.

Receive CSR funding

A company can only route CSR money to an NGO that has filed Form CSR-1 with the MCA, and CSR-1 cannot be filed without a valid Darpan ID.

Qualify for FCRA

A Darpan Unique ID is a prerequisite for applying for FCRA registration, and for renewing it — without it, foreign contributions are off the table.

Verified, credible standing

Being listed in the NITI Aayog database tells donors, corporates and government departments that your NGO is registered, traceable and real.

Visibility to funders

Departments and CSR teams search the Darpan directory by sector and state when they are looking for implementation partners. If you are not listed, you are not found.

A single compliance record

Your governing body, address and activity details sit in one place and are updated annually — the record ministries pull from rather than asking you for papers each time.

Questions answered

Frequently asked questions

Yes — NITI Aayog charges nothing to register on the Darpan portal, and we will not pretend otherwise. Our fee is a professional fee for handling the filing: verifying that your NGO's name, PAN and registration certificate match, compiling the governing body details in the format the portal accepts, formatting the documents within the PDF/JPG and 2MB limits, and following up through manual verification. If you would rather file it yourself, the portal is ngodarpan.gov.in.

It is not a legal requirement to run an NGO. But it is effectively mandatory to be funded. Most government grant schemes will not accept an application without a Darpan Unique ID, Form CSR-1 cannot be filed without one — so no company can give you CSR money — and FCRA registration and renewal both require it.

Yes. A valid Darpan Unique ID is a prerequisite for applying for FCRA registration and for renewing an existing FCRA registration. Without it, your NGO cannot legally receive foreign contributions.

Yes. Form CSR-1 must be filed with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs before a company can route CSR funds to your NGO, and the form cannot be filed without a valid Darpan Unique ID.

Usually 2–14 working days. A clean application with matching documents moves quickly; anything that goes into manual verification with a mismatch in the NGO's name, PAN or member details takes longer, which is exactly what we are checking for before we file.

Yes. You can apply as soon as your NGO has a valid registration certificate and its own PAN — there is no waiting period after incorporation.

No. The portal requires details of a governing body of at least three members — typically a president or chairman, a secretary and a treasurer — each with their own PAN and Aadhaar.

Your NGO's registration certificate, trust deed or MOA, the PAN of the NGO, address proof, bank details, and the name, PAN, Aadhaar, email and mobile number of each governing body member. All uploads must be in PDF or JPG format and under 2MB each.

No. Only NGOs registered in Haryana — as a trust, a society or a Section 8 company — can enrol on the NGO Darpan portal.

At least once a year, and whenever the governing body, registered address or financial details change. A stale profile can be marked inactive, which puts your grant applications and CSR eligibility at risk.

Log in to your NGO Darpan account, open the profile section, and download the certificate as a PDF. We also deliver a copy to your dashboard once the Unique ID is issued.

No. The whole process is online. You share documents from your phone, complete the mobile and email OTP verification, and our expert files everything on the NITI Aayog portal on your behalf.
